It's been a looooong week

more ups & downs than a dog’s lunch

Did Bush’s meeting with the PM of India [including this ...interesting sentence: “The US side undertook to adjust its laws and policies domestically and to work with its friends and allies to adjust relevant international regimes.” “adjust?!?"] have anything to do with Pakistan’s Gen Musharraf claiming to kick out any foreign attendees at those Paki madrassas that, last week, he claimed “do not exist?” So India got agreement to keep their nukes [civilian and ‘strategic’] and we’re giving Pakistan two [2] F-16s.  That gift had been blocked for fifteen years to ‘punish’ Pakistan for it’s nuclear program.  Tough balancing act.

image
Bye Bye

In more uplifting news, I hear there’s an easy way never to have to look at Helen Thomas again.  C’mon Mr Cheney—you don’t even hafta mean it… Just say it so we can watch her squirm.

image
“Who’s that tripping over my bridge?"

Sur del Border—things ain’t a’goin’ so well.  In a move reminiscent of Jimmahaggrivating factor/disgrace to the USA” Carter, the US Ambassador to Mexico has shut down the Nuevo Laredo consulate due to rampant drug/gang war in the streets, 20 minute Uzi/bazooka/grenade battles, and the general atmosphere of a spaghetti western.  That‘ll show ‘em.

image
Hi.  My name is Jimmah.  I’m completely sane.

Shifting Sands of Reality Alert—amazingly enough in Saddam’s trial. [yeah—whodathunkit] Saddy’s Jordan based {!} ‘attorneys’ were outraged, I tell you by an open attack on the poor old genocider man in open court when he “exchanged blows” with an ‘unnamed assailant.’ Oddly enough, US forces guarding Saddy at the time and the head of the tribunal failed to observe such an incident.  In the spirit of “turnabout is fair play,” Saddy’s attorneys failed to recognize the court.  So, who’s on crack?

image
Who?  Me???

Sharp Turns Ahead—from the Hilldabeast.  Amids the sounds of much screeching of tires, Hilly D. Beast veers off course from her ‘move toward the center.’

image
“Run!  Run away!!"

Hillary Rodham Clinton blasts President Bush and his “radical” administration on Saturday for attempting to dismantle the “central pillars of progress in our country during the 20th century.”

...says she has become convinced the Republican administration wants “to undo the New Deal,” the Roosevelt-era policies that ushered in Social Security and a host of other governmental assistance programs.

Well, say now; I could get behind that.  Didja fail to notice, Hilly beast, that those policies were what made the Gread Depression worse?  Or are we just rewriting history?  Again.  Hilly D. Beast seems to believe that less government handouts, therefore less government authority over folks’ lives, will make “America less free, fair, strong, smart than it deserves to be in a dangerous world.” Are ye dim?  Or do you just think we are?

Here’s the gall of her statement:  “This administration is in danger of being the first in American history to leave our nation worse off than when they found it.” bahahaha Unless ya count the Clinton admin.  Or the Carter.  Or..... oh, whatever.

Why Is This A Headline?  Bush plans 50th ranch trip in five years Is USATodaytoday unaware of the latest developments in technology—like the telephone and the internet and satellites—that allow the recreation of all the facilities of The White House not only at The Ranch, but even on the gotdanged airplane?  Not trying to ignore facts so as to create a particular impression on the American reading cartoon-paper-watching public, are ya?  naaaah.

Regrowing a Set—Britain—BooYah!

Over the past fortnight Israeli intelligence agents have noticed something distinctly odd happening on the internet. One by one, Al-Qaeda’s affiliated websites have vanished until only a handful remain, write Uzi Mahnaimi and Alex Pell.

Someone has cut the line of communication between the spiritual leaders of international terrorism and their supporters. Since 9/11 the websites have been the main links to disseminate propaganda and information.

The Israelis detect the hand of British intelligence

London: Drinks companies have been ordered to hire uglier men for their advertisements in Britain, to avoid making a link between women’s boozing and sexual success.

Men in alcohol ads that target women should be “balding” and “paunchy” rather than “attractive and desirable”, says guidance issued by the Advertising Standards Authority.

...The authority instructed the firm: “We would advise that the man in the picture should be unattractive - ie overweight, middle-aged, balding etc … The ad is in danger of implying that the drink may bring sexual/social success, because the man in question looks quite attractive and desirable to the girls."

But “Kill all Brits” is still legal.

And speaking of useless verbiage, that’s exactly what Merri of Merri’s Musings addresses:

Everywhere, words have evolved into some homogenized version of what they used to be.  These changes have a direct and distinct impact on our society and how we perceive what is going on around us.  Some examples include “deferred success” versus “failure” or “illegal alien” versus “undocumented worker.” I truly believe this “dumbing down” of society as a whole will not serve us well in the future.  For example, isn’t competition part of success?  If every little Janey or every little Johnny gets the same grade, or they are all told they are doing well, where is the competition?  If everything is sugar-coated, how do people know the truth?

The effects Merri sees in the real world are chilling.  And irritating.

Right Thinking Girl looks at the Blame America First crowd and their reactions to this week’s developmens in convicted spy Jonathan Pollard’s case.

There is a fundamental disconnect between the people of the US and the media arm of the Democratic Party in this country. The Left is fundamentally unable to rally around their homeland; they always bet against America.

image

Stacy of Not a Desperate Houswife fills us in on the back story behind a newly *ahem* erected plaque of highly questionable taste in Toronto.  A public monument to an historical figure really oughtn’t prompt the question, “Mommy/Daddy what is that man doing to that other man?” WTG, Tarannah.

image

EB at Portia Rediscovered not-so-gently censors *ahem* corrects those who cry “Censorship!” every time their inflammatory “art” causes rhetoric to become inflamed.  “I don’t doubt liberal’s sincerity in their beliefs. I doubt their beliefs.” That’s a distinction oft lost on those who would happily stick a thumb in your eye then whine piteoiusly when you object.

image

Charmaine of Reasoned Audacity clearly deliniates the Moonbats’ newest strategy of manipulation aimed at what they perceive to be the “Redneck Fundie Right.” Subtly suggesting that, because of a pair of plaid pants [worn in 1972], attendance at an all-boys’ school and athletic pursuits on the wrestling team, John Roberts *whispers* might be gay.  *eye roll* To even mention the word hypocracy would be to gild the lily.

Who cares?

Well, that’s just the point: they think we do. They think that they can undermine support for someone among conservatives if they can dredge up some sort of homosexual connection—or, in this case, just the manufactured whiff of a question.

If it weren’t so cruel and small, it would be funny.

Rightwingsparkle did some research on the English-written Islamic message boards looking for some responses to the London terrorist attacks.  She found some of the expected, some quite unexpected connections and some downright cryptic quotations.  Then something peculiar happened:

I was about to link this message board and suddenly I got a bit nervous. I know that sounds crazy, but I started thinking that I didn’t want those on the board to know I linked them or quoted them. It was strange for me because it was the first time I felt a trickle of fear about being known.

Crazy?  Maybe not.

Both desktop *and* laptop turned belly up.  Using a *shudder* Gatesian machine purloined from The Mister which, using Firefux refuses to show me half of the pictures online....

Cognitive Dissonance

Suicide Rafters?!?

image
ONE MONTH BEFORE MURDER The London bombers Shehzad Tanweer, 22, circled front, and Mohammed Sidique Khan, 30, circled making a V sign, are photographed on a team-building exercise in Wales on June 4, a month before their suicide attacks. Also in the raft is Naveed Fiaz, 29, who is being questioned by bombing investigators, and a 32-year-old volunteer at an Islamic bookshop in Leeds (MIRRORPIX)

London bombers, Shehzad Tanweer, boasted ...to his cousin his ambition to become a “holy warrior”. At his father’s home village 30 miles from Faisalabad, Mohammad Saleem described yesterday how Tanweer, 22, hero-worshipped Osama bin Laden.

Mr Saleem supported his cousin’s bombing at Aldgate station which killed seven people, saying: “Whatever he has done, if he has done it, then he has done right.” He recalled how Tanweer argued with family and friends about the need for violent retaliation over US abuse of Muslim prisoners in Guantanamo Bay.

Senator Diick Durbin?  Here’s your sign.

THE mother of [London terrorist bomber] Jermaine Lindsay [19] ...Maryam McCleod Ismaiyl, 39 ...Dressed in a burka, through which only her bespectacled eyes could be seen, she said: “I don’t know whether that was my son. Neither I nor his wife have been able to identify him.”

...He had adopted the name Jamal when he converted to Islam. He later married Samantha Lewthwaite, who also converted to Islam, and the couple had a child. Mrs Ismaiyl added that her son converted to Islam shortly after she joined the faith four years ago. She said she had seen him last year: “I respected and admired him so very much because he was so responsible when I last saw him.

Four years?  He got that psycho in four years?!?!? yikes.

..."The religion that I love and practised with Jamal is a religion of peace and justice, it is a balanced religion that does not condone or entertain extremism. Extremism is a newly invented matter and all newly invented matters lead to the hell’s fire."

Are you talking about Islam or the Amish?

And yet, there’s hope.

London - The British government is drawing up a list of Muslim extremists to be deported from this country or kept from entering it in the first place. ...include radical clerics who engage in behavior such as preaching or running a website that is “intended to foment or provoke terrorism."

Sound good, eh?  ...wait.

...[Home Secretary Charles] Clarke also announced that the government of Jordan has tentatively agreed not to torture any such returnees to that country. In the past, following the European Convention of Human Rights, British courts have refused to deport people back to countries whose governments engaged in torture.

..."I am not personally in favor of deportation,” [Prince Hassan of Jordan] said. “I think they [the deportees] should be tried in Britain and restraining orders would evolve into due processes of law.”

Hassan, King Abdullah II’s uncle, suggested that an international commission should oversee the process.

Heh—they don’t want ‘em either.  So, Tony Blair—you wanna be a popu-dumping ground?  Y’all got the room?

Omar Bakri Mohammed last night admitted he hates Britain — after learning he will escape deportation under tough new curbs on Muslim extremists.

The Government’s own Human Rights Act means the cleric cannot be sent back to his Syrian homeland in case he faces torture or execution there.

...Bakri even likened non-Muslim religions to devil worship ...Bakri said: “I would call the Muslim community ... I believe co-operation with the British police would never, ever prevent an action like these.”

...[Bakri] will NOT be thrown out even though his right to live here will be revoked.

He hates everything British.  He thinks Christians are devil worshipers.  He would hide terrorist bombers from police.  He wants more death and destruction, bombing and maiming upon the British peoples—and they’re keeping him saaaafe from torture in his own home country.  Codependent much?

PM Tony Blair?  Here’s your sign.

And it’s not just the Brits:

...two [Tenn.] sisters who were injured in the July 7 terrrorist bombings in London went home on Friday

...mostly shrapnel wounds...exposed tendons and bones ...hearing damage ...two chunks of my leg that were missing quite a bit of skin, and then my hand was sliced open.”

...And how do they feel about those responsible for the attack?

I feel horrible for them,” Katie Benton said. “I feel so much pity for them, that ... anybody could be that lost to think that kind of violence actually has any kind of productive effect."

Ladies? Sentaor Gore?  Here’s your sign.

Talk about a Rock and a Hard Place

waffling and the middle ground doesn’t seem to work for anyone

Dear Staff of CAIR:

I dispense with the traditional greeting normally extended to Muslims as your behaviour over and over again demonstrates that you are NOT acting to the benefit of the Muslim community but rather as an arm of the American fascist/racist government. …

Instead of pushing the Zionist agenda on the Muslims via puppet imams at mosques, conferences, condemnation of the Islamic resistance and now a commercial which puts blame on the Muslims for defending their political and religious rights. What a wicked you do by negating the teachings of Islam regarding Jihad and fostering guilt in Muslims for abiding by the injunction of Quran and Sunnah to go to Jihad against the enemies of the Muslim nation and religion. …

Muslims have the obligation to go to Jihad and to retaliate upon their enemies and there is no guilt in doing what ALLAH has ordered. No Muslim should be misguided and made to believe that retaliation for the atrocities committed by the non-Muslims upon Muslims is to be tolerated. No Muslim should go against his brother/sister jihadi in order to appease the non-Muslim governments of the world. No Muslim owes any apologies to any non-Muslim nation and no Muslim needs to be feeling bad for the crimes that are carried out by the Bush and Blair bastards under the guise of the Mujahideen. …

ALLAH’s curse is upon you for your treason against the Muslim religion and people. REPENT before it is too late !

STOP POISONING THE MINDS OF THE MUSLIMS WITH YOUR CORRUPTED VERSION OF ISLAM THAT ONLY SERVES THE INTERESTS OF ZIONISTS !

Very truly yours,
Shayhka Maulani Aeisha Muhammad

Forget the lip - stiffen your resolve

a lotta work to do

And it’s not like there are no corresponding figures here in the US.  They may be a little less camera-hungry, but it’s admittedly difficult to push Teddy, John and Dick out of the shot.

LONDONISTAN - Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed : ...praised the September 11 hijackers ...did not believe the bombings and attempted attacks on London were carried out by British Muslims ...described attacks on British and U.S. troops in Muslim countries as “pro-life” and justified. ...described Osama bin Laden, leader of the radical Islamist network al Qaeda, as “a sincere man who fights against evil forces”

...said he would like Britain to become an Islamic state ..."I would like to see the Islamic flag fly, not only over number 10 Downing Street, but over the whole world,

["The Tottenham Ayatollah” ...founded the British branch of Hizb ut-Tahrir, which describes itself as a non-violent political party dedicated to creating an Islamic caliphate centred on the Middle East.]

So you see; alla this violence is our own fault for daring to resisting the Islamic caliphate.

Call me a bigoted "ghost"

Three to five times more Latin Americans are studying Chinese today compared to five years ago...

“It’s the language of the future for commercial and industrial transactions and for foreign trade,” said Zelma Wong, the administrator who decided to begin offering Chinese at San Marcos.  “In 10 years, China will be a world power. That will mean economic development for Peru.”

Not a day passes in Latin America, it seems, without news of a major Chinese investment in the region, a visit by a high-ranking Chinese government or trade official or a trip by a Latin American official to China.

Learn English - bahahahahaha.  Learn Chinese - hey, sure seguro.

Intellectual Whores, Listen Up!

that means you, Senator.

It’s not just possible—it’s a dead-bang certainty—that terrorist attacks in the United States are being thwarted by the patience and skill of the Gitmo crew. And as the FBI benefits, so do the combatant commanders. The operational military levy requests on Gitmo several times a week, and are often answered with information they can apply on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. And elsewhere.

This is the same fella who reminded us that “going to war without Frants is like going deer hunting without an accordion. You just leave a lot of useless noisy baggage behind.”

Back off, suckah -- I got a pound of bacon in my purse!!

claim you’re a relative now—Steve H. is about to become a gazillionaire

image

You get a vacuum sealer and make thin plastic bags containing an ounce of lard.  Vacuum-sealer bags are tough, so leakage shouldn’t be a problem.  You enclose them in black fabric pouches with the word “LARD” stenciled on the outside.  When you’re on mass transit, you clip it to your collar so people can see it.  No terrorist who wants his eternal reward will go near you.

I think this could work.  You sell these things at newsstands and so on, and you contact the media so people find out what they are, and eventually, Muslim nutcases will start looking for them and avoiding them.

Freakin’ brill!

“To conceal the truth of their racist past (and as part of their effort to deceive the public), the Democratic Party made a conscience decision not to mention or disclose their true and complete history. (See exhibit 1).  On their official website they failed to disclose that as a Party:
