On the raadio they were discussing the 10 most commonly used passwords.  Among the most common,

password1,
abc123,
blink182,
qwerty1,
fuckyou,
123abc,
baseball1,
football1,
123456,
princess1,
jordan23,
superman1,
and monkey
eww

So I guess the blink182 is a band, which is fine for faa-aans, and jordan23 is Michael Jordan, which is fine for him.  Got me to wondering about other folks’ passwords. . .

At least he provides a role model

earning a vote?  not so much

McCain:  M/Feingold… Gang of 14… ‘sall over for me.  But.

I sure do admire his response to Murtha’s hysterics on the floor ‘tother day:

“I don’t know how to react to that kind of hysteria to a comedy show,” he told Diane Sawyer on “GMA.” “All I’m going to say to Murtha and others. … Lighten up and get a life."

OTOH…

On Wednesday, the same day that McCain announced his presidential run, 218 members of the House voted for a bill that contained a troop withdrawal timetable. McCain said that he would rather lose the election than abandon the conviction that a troop withdrawal from Iraq was a bad idea.

“Everything that I know. … That I’ve learned about my life … dictates that would be a disaster,” he said today.

But not important enuff to show up and vote against…

Mullah Dadullah - Redux

good mixed news!

The Good:

Afghan forces have trapped up to 200 Taliban fighters in a southern village ...since Saturday… “possible that Mullah Dadullah is among” those ...

The Bad:

"We are trying to get him to surrender and to arrest these Taliban without fighting,” he said.

...[demanded that they] surrender or face military action. He did not mention any deadline for negotiations.

*sigh* I guess he is an intelligence gold mine, but...  yet another of the many reasons I do the blogging and others do the soldiering.

The Ugly:

image

Dadullah is aged about 40 and is said to come from the Kakar tribe, from the Kandahar region, which is renowned for its fighting prowess. He lost one of his legs after stepping on a landmine shortly after joining the Taliban in 1994.

...So vicious was he that during one particularly brutal assignment in 1998 to “pacify” ethnic minority Hazaras, a Shia group in Bamian province, he massacred hundreds of civilians. It was too much even for Mullah Mohammed Omar, the Taliban’s one-eyed spiritual leader, who relieved him of his command.

There’s a one eyed, one legged flyin’ purple people slayer joke in there somewhere…

...Unlike other Taliban leaders who never allow themselves to be photographed for religious and security reasons, Dadullah seems to crave the attention, giving television interviews and calling foreign journalists on his satellite phone.

...Recruitment DVDs on sale across Afghanistan and Pakistan show the one-legged guerrilla commander in various poses - blasting a target with a heavy machine gun, dishing out blessings and ordaining a succession of would-be “martyrs”.

...Just like Zarqawi, his starring role in propaganda DVDs has successfully drawn in scores of suicide bombers and thousands of fighters to the cause. And just like Zarqawi, his fondness for beheadings means his followers fear him almost as much as his enemies.

...He never spends the whole night in one place, fearing coalition air strikes.

Excuse me, HarryNancyJackieDickie?

What part of “kill” do you Americans not understand?

image

AL-QAIDA leaders in Iraq are planning the first ‘large-scale’ terrorist attacks on Britain and other western targets with the help of supporters in Iran, according to a leaked intelligence report ...

...one operative had said he was planning an attack on “a par with Hiroshima and Nagasaki” in an attempt to “shake the Roman throne”...

...It follows revelations last year that up to 150 Britons had travelled to Iraq to fight as part of Al-Qaida’s “foreign legion”. A number are thought to have returned to the UK, after receiving terrorist training, to form sleeper cells. ...

...said a counter-terrorist source. “They (Al-Qaida) have got to do something soon that is radical otherwise they start losing credibility.” ...

Timetable to get out of Great Britain!!!!!

In a struggle for power, first seize the language.

it’s good to keep track

When the opposition—by whichever of their names they travel, Liberal, Progressive, Greenie—wants to make a move, the first thing he does is grab the language and change the definitions.  Suddenly we’re not talking about what we thought we were talking about anymore.

Let’s make a list, shall we?

-- liberal

-- progressive

-- green

-- offensive

-- sustainable

-- economic justice

-- peace

--

--

--

--

[I’ll keep coming back to add things as they occur.  You add things, too.]

Today'z Chiaroscuro

C&C

Thing A:

From Glenn Beck CNN 4/20
yikes: DON CLARK, FORMER FBI AGENT [former head of Houston TX office, FBI]:  Well, you know, I think we live in a society, Glenn, where law enforcement and the organizational structures should protect us. And that`s what we need to work towards. We need to work towards our law enforcement organizations being able to solve crime and being able to prevent crime. ...

We need to make sure that we’ve got special services out there to pick up people who have illnesses and try to do something with that information. I don’t think that everybody that has a home or has a place here should have a gun and they can have a gun. But I don’t think they should be dependent on it, that I’ve got to have that to defend my family.

... I don’t think there’s a God given right to carry a gun.

...Certainly, in emergencies if you’ve a gun, if I’ve got one, we’re going to do what we need to do. But that should not be a standard of our society. We should have law enforcement. We should have things in place to protect us, to include 9/11.

yikes^2: DAVE GLOVER, RADIO TALK SHOW HOST: I agree with Don that we should have a government, and that’s the word he used, should, that can protect us. So we wouldn’t need to protect ourselves, but I don’t live in that world, and neither does Don.

Thing B:

I’m surprised no one else has written this column in the aftermath of Sept. 11.

The message is simple, Americans: Arm yourselves.

...I was a little disappointed when President Bush suggested the most patriotic thing Americans could do in these trying times was shop.

...Can you imagine how dangerous it would be for the handful of terrorists in this country if 250 million Americans were armed and on patrol against them?

That’s what I want to see.

...Sept. 11 demonstrated clearly to one and all that the government cannot protect you. It cannot protect your loved ones. It cannot protect our borders. It cannot even protect the biggest, tallest buildings...
