Todazed WTF?!?!?
It’s the ENEMY, Stupid.
At Wednesday’s rededication ceremony of the Saudi-funded Islamic Center of Washington, D.C., President Bush missed a perfect opportunity to repudiate apologism for radical Islam, and instead announced his latest plan to get the Muslim world to stop hating America: appoint a special envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). Que?
I said, ‘Can you direct me to the petard department?’
ATLANTA – The Home Depot®, the world’s largest home improvement retailer, today [Feb 15, 2005] announced that the company has formed a hiring partnership with four of the country’s leading national Hispanic organizations, The ASPIRA Association, Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), National Council of La Raza (NCLR), and SER – Jobs for Progress National.
What’s the difference between a Home Depot parking lot and a Lowes parking lot? ...an Ace or True Value parking lot? ...an Orchard Supply parking lot?
WASHINGTON (AP)—Home Depot® is tired of being forced by local governments to accommodate the day laborers who turn up in its store parking lots seeking construction work. So the Georgia-based company turned to Congress for help.
The Senate could respond this week by attaching language to the immigration bill… sponsored by Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., ... designed to curtail a practice in the California communities of Mountain View and Burbank, where city councils recently have forced Home Depot to build facilities for day laborers onsite or elsewhere, hire security staff and offer bathrooms in order to get the permits necessary for its operations.
But… But… But… who’s gonna clean that bathroom?!?

Too Late?
or do I need to get back onna bus
“There is an urgent national need for Muslims and non-Muslims to work together to create full and equal opportunities for civic and political participation of Muslim Americans," ...before suspicion and mistrust lingering since the attacks on New York and Washington isolates them and sparks radicalism in their ranks, a study said on Tuesday.
..."Many Americans perceive Muslim Americans as not having fully and readily acknowledged the potential for radicalism within their community,” ..."The climate of suspicion and mistrust and the lack of engagement threaten to marginalize and alienate some elements among Muslim Americans to the point that the danger of radicalization becomes a real possibility,”...
We need to be extra careful that we don’t create a situation that is a self-fulfilling prophecy...
So, see, it would be our fault. Again.

"Jayzus says so"
Irony—with real iron
For those who may have missed it, MM sez Jayzus wants Nationalized Restricted Health Care.
Pick a card . . .
Stated Agenda vs Actual Agenda
I think socialized health care is the single biggest factor in transforming the relationship of the individual to the state....
Socialized health care is the biggest cause not just of the infantilization of the citizenry but of the state.
...the unloveliness of any British city after six in the evening - the dolly birds staggering around paralytic, the pools of “pavement pizza”, the baying yobboes gagging for a shag and hurling bollards through the bus shelters to impress the crumpet - is a natural consequence of what happens when the state relieves the citizen of primal responsibilities.

Well ain't that a fine plate o' spaetzle 'n' meatballs?
*bangs head on nonexistent wall
The Senate immigration bill could mean reparations for German Nazis. No, I’m not making this up. Look at Title IX, the “Study of War Time Treatment of Certain People,” also cited as the “Wartime Treatment Study Act,” Sections 901-916, pages 409-415 available through the Heritage Foundation.
...The Senate immigration bill would establishes a Commission on Wartime Treatment of European Americans to investigate U.S. policies that the bill describes as “devastating to the Italian American and German American communities.”
Section 903 declares that, the “term German Americans” includes “resident aliens of German ancestry” who numbered about 300,000 in total. The same definition is used for the term Italian American.
...This section of the Kennedy-Bush-Kyl immigration bill is a textbook case of what happens to legislation that is created in secret, without hearings, and with only limited debate. These six pages reveal the politically correct mind-set animating this 418-page monstrosity.
It’s beginning to dawn on me that the ‘Whole Purpose’ behind this stupid bill is not “low wages,” [once they’re citizens they’ll demand the same damned wage the rest get] or “keeping families together” [they’d be together in their country of origin, too] nor not being “raaaacist” [ whateverrr].
Seems to me the “Whole Point” is to devalue American Citizenship.
In preparation for what? To what end? I got no clue.
And if that isn’t the “Whole Point” - or one of ‘em - it sure is one hell on an unintended consequence.
Meatballs…

Not just "get on the bus!"
now we gotta go to the back
..."This is huge,” [Ward Connerly of the Sacramento-based American Civil Rights Institute] told Frontpage. “All this talk of going to the back of the line is B.S.. They would go to the front of the line. The minute they are Americans, they move in front of white males and in some cases white women.” Legalized Hispanic immigrants, Connerly says, would also gain privileges over immigrants from nations such as Russia because they would be part of an officially sanctioned “underrepresented minority.”
...This is one of those things that people have not thought through.” Connerly said. “A group that has never had the historic discrimination of blacks would be given the status of an underrepresented minority in this country.”
..."It is not numerical,” he said, “you are a minority if you are presumed to be socially and economically disadvantaged. We will have in California a circumstance that one group is a numerical majority but still classified a minority. You would be hard pressed to say they are disadvantaged. The premise is that minorities are politically powerless."
Oooo - lookie! Sparkly shiny water... bottles
and he wants us to believe he’s not on crack...

Over the last decade, San Franciscans have responded to marketing campaigns to purchase bottled water and record amounts of bottled water have been purchased by San Franciscans at the expense of the environment, [PrettyBoy *gak* Gaven Newsom wrote]
...plastic bottles requiring oil to produce, and releasing one billion pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year.
More than a billion plastic water bottles end up in California landfills annually, he said, taking 1,000 years to biodegrade and leaking toxic additives into the groundwater. [ok - fill me in. What “toxic additives” do water bottles release?]
...By Sept. 30, all city departments...will have completed an audit to determine the viability of switching from bottled water dispensers to bottle-less water dispensers [whaa? like a *water cooler*?!??! With Plastic cups???!?!? *PAPER* cups???? oh, the treeeeeeees!!!*sob*]
By December 1, all city departments will have installed bottle-less water dispensers, according to Newsom’s order. [and the “audit to determine the viability” is for what, ‘xactly]
Waivers will be granted to by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission [which provides the HH “safest, purest drinking water in the nation"] based on legitimate engineering, health and fiscal concerns, Newsom said.

Add in: [the “Silly Man"] Trent “Vacant” Lott’s hand-tipping statement that talk radio [read: market-driven free speech] is something “we” must “deal with.” oopsie
Now comes the big “gun”—the report from the Center for American Progress [aka: the Clinton White Hose in Exile] run by that interesting character, John Posesta.
The Structural Imbalance of Political Talk Radio
Our conclusion is that the gap between conservative and progressive talk radio is the result of multiple structural problems in the U.S. regulatory system, particularly
the complete breakdown of the public trustee concept of broadcast, the elimination of clear public interest requirements for broadcasting, and the relaxation of
ownership rules including the requirement of local participation in management.Ownership diversity is perhaps the single most important variable contributing to the structural imbalance based on the data. [which is deeply, deeply flawed]
This analysis suggests that any effort to encourage more responsive and balanced radio programming will first require steps to increase localism and diversify radio station ownership to better meet local and community needs. [here’s the threat part: we’ll nationalize/legislate your radio holdings right out of your hands if you don’t program the stuff we tell you to—whether or not you can get ratings or advertisers for it. ]
We suggest three ways to accomplish this:
--Restore local and national caps on the ownership of commercial radio stations.
--Ensure greater local accountability over radio licensing.
--Require commercial owners who fail to abide by enforceable public interest obligations to pay a fee to support public broadcasting. [they already do—it’s called “taxes"]
...
Quantitative analysis ... of commercial radio stations reveals that stations owned by women, minorities, or local
owners are statistically less likely to air conservative hosts or shows. [emph. in original]
Among other things—manymanymanymanymany other things—the “data” failed to include ratings from federally-funded NPR—failed to even acknowledge it’s existence.

[SF Supervisor Chris Daly] said Newsom was hypocritically slashing substance-abuse treatment funds for poor people while he “artfully dodges every question about allegations of his own cocaine use."
