Border UPDATE
caliente!
...Monday night ... suspected illegal immigrants who ran back to Mexico began throwing rocks at Border Patrol agents detaining other immigrants…
At least one rock came from behind the agent, who was kneeling beside a suspected illegal immigrant whom he was holding prone on the ground, Simmons said. The agent told the rock throwers to stop, then fired his weapon several times, hitting the boy ...
Pointing their rifles, Mexican security forces chased away U.S. authorities investigating the shooting of a 15-year-old Mexican by a U.S. Border Patrol agent on the banks of the Rio Grande ...
[Sergio Adrian Hernandez Huereka] was found 20 feet (six meters) into Mexico ... Mexican authorities said a .40 caliber shell casing was found near the body, suggesting that the Border Patrol agent might have crossed into Mexico to shoot the boy.
...A U.S. official close to the investigation told the AP that authorities have a video showing that the Border Patrol agent did not cross into Mexico. In fact, the official said, the video shows what appear to be members of Mexican law enforcement crossing onto the U.S. side, picking something up and returning to Mexico.
...One [Mexican news media] tabloid ran a large photograph on its cover, with the banner headline “Gringaderas,” salty slang that roughly translates as “things Americans do.”
...Chihuahua state Gov. Jose Reyes Baeza blamed the two killings on racism fueled by Arizona’s law.
“We believe that this killing, the second in recent days in the border between the two countries, is due to xenophobia and racism, derived from the approval of Arizona’s anti-immigration law,” Reyes said.
Who who was this “boy” who was “playing” under the border bridge?
A Juárez teenager shot and killed by a U.S. Border Patrol agent had a history of smuggling immigrants across the border,...
...Hernandez was on the El Paso juvenille smugglers most wanted list at the time of his death and that the teen’s most recent charge of smuggling undocumented immigrants into the U.S. was in 2009.
Border Patrol agents have said that juveniles often serve as illegal crossing guides because they can avoid full prosecution.

Diplomatic relations “strained”?
U.S. Border Patrol agents in the El Paso Sector have been targets in 29 rock-throwing attacks since October...
...around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agents responded to a group of suspected illegal immigrants, allegedly being smuggled into the U.S. near the Paso Del Norte port of entry.
Simmons said agents detained two of the men, and the others ran into Mexico and began throwing rocks at one of the agents. She said the FBI believes the men then surrounded the agent, he felt threatened and fired his gun.
“With multiple rocks, somebody could be injured,” said Simmons. “Somebody could potentially overpower him and get his gun. So you have to take that into consideration."
Mexican Federal Police have removed a large sign that was found hanging near the bridge ... “U.S. Border Patrol, we worry about the violence in Mexico and now you! Murderers. Viva Mexico.”

“It is unsafe in Mexico. Don’t go to Mexico," warned Game Warden Capt. Fernando Cervantes. ...
With machine guns in hand, Mexico’s deadliest cartel is patrolling the waters of a Texas border lake.
These pirates already have hit several boats on Falcon Lake near Zapata, which is about an hour south of Laredo.
Zeta cartel pirates ambushing boats on the Mexican side, operating with virtual impunity as they steal cash and electronics at machine gun-point.
...U.S. authorities say there just isn’t a Mexican law presence on the other side of the lake,

[BLITZER] what’s wrong with the folks in Arizona wanting to protect their border?
[CALDERON]: That is not exactly the problem. I fully respect the right of any nation to establish the legislation that that nation wants—or their people—and, of course, the right of any nation to enforce the law and protect their own borders.
But the problem is first that we need to—to face this challenge in a comprehensive way as President Obama says. And that implies to recognize the rights and the contribution of the people to the growth of this great nation.
But, on the other hand, and in particular, in Arizona, there is some racial profiling criteria in order to enforce the law that it is against any sense of human rights and, of course, is provoking a very disappointing things—or a very disappointing opinion in Mexico and around the world, even here, in America.
I got Mexico’s—and the World’s— “disappointment” right here:
Tens of thousands of migrant men, women and children making their way from Central America to the United States to seek a better life are preyed on by criminal gangs in Mexico while authorities turn a blind eye—or even play an active part—in kidnappings, extortion, beatings, rapes of girls and women, and murders, Amnesty International said in a new report released today. Urging the Mexican government to protect the migrants’ rights and punish those who abuse them, Amnesty International called the migrants’ plight a “human rights crisis."

As a member of an unrecognized minority—people of low blood-pressure [LBP]—I like salt. And have been advised to eat lots and lots of it. By actual Doctors. With degrees ‘n’ stuff.
In fact, I just found a pretty glass dish on ebay to hold my salt lick.
Aside from some folks with a particular kind of heart problem who need to control blood volume, it’s really difficult to overdose on salt. A healthy body will process the amount of salt it needs and the kidneys will dispose of the rest. Anyone paying the least amount of attention will note that they don’t have a taste for it if they’re getting enough.
The real deal here is to get us accustomed to having the gubbment making our most personal decisions for us. Because when the gubbment pays for the collective, Individual Freedoms are just in the way.

CALDERON: There are several things that I need to clarify. First, it is not exactly a war on drugs, in the sense that my object is not only and not mainly drugs, or narcotrafficking itself. It’s not a war on drugs in the old sense of Mr. Nixon established here in the States.
My focus is to guarantee the safety for Mexican families, which are under threat of the organized crime in Mexico.
BLITZER: Because the murders and—and the kidnappings, it seems to me, from afar, as if it’s almost out of control.
CALDERON: It is not out of control. It is part of the process that we are stopping. Fortunately, we started to take action on time. ...
...
BLITZER: Because I—I’m wondering, are the drug gangs, the cartels, are they winning this war right now?
When I hear a number like 23,000 people killed since you launched your initiative…
CALDERON: No. They—they are not winning. ...
...
BLITZER: Because there’s some suggestion [Diego Fernandez] was kidnapped to send you a message.

“Mexico and the United States are stronger together than they are apart," he told a joint meeting of Congress. “Our economic ties have made both economies stronger. ... A stronger Mexico means a stronger United States."
"I strongly disagree” with the [AZ Law], Calderon told members of the House and Senate. “It is a law that not only ignores a reality that cannot be erased by decree,” [bet me?] but also introduces the “terrible idea” that racial profiling is acceptable. [demonstration that he has not had the law read to him, either.]
Calderon also had a message for undocumented Mexican migrants currently in the United States: “I want to say to the migrants [what? like birds?]—all those who are working really hard for this great country [and sending their $$$ to MexiCo]—that we admire them, we miss them, [you can have ‘em back. rly.] [and] we are working hard for their rights [their “rights” as foreign nationals? sure. their rights to have a decent country in MexiCo? not so much] ... [and] for their families,” he said....
“I’m not a president who likes to see Mexicans leave our country, leaving for opportunities abroad,” he said. “Mexico will one day be a country where our people will find the opportunities that today they look for outside of the country.” [when ohBambi takes it over...]
...
[Calderon] also urged Congress to re-impose the assault weapons ban ... “Today these weapons are aimed by the criminals ... at Mexican civilians and authorities,” he said. “With all due respect, if you do not regulate the sale of these weapons in the right way,” American authorities and civilians may be soon face a similar challenge.
Straight UN doctrine. Amazing.

Capt. Bullshit keeps it goin’:
...called Arizona’s new law against illegal immigrants a “misdirected expression of frustration over our broken immigration system.” ...Obama said the law “has raised concerns in both of our countries” and that the administration is “taking a very close look” for any implications it might hold, especially for civil rights.
“Because in the United States of America, no law-abiding person, be they an American citizen, a legal immigrant, or a visitor or tourist from Mexico should ever be subject to suspicion simply because of what they look like,” Obama said.
Proving that his version of “taking a very close look” does not involve actually reading the damthing.

This phrase was actually spoken aloud at the LA City Council meeting today:
...council members compared Arizona’s action to Nazi Germany and the beginning of the Holocaust, as well as the internment and deportation of Japanese Americans during World War II
...“Los Angeles the second-largest city in this country, an immigrant city, an international city. It needs to have its voice heard,’’ said Councilman Ed Reyes, one of the resolution’s sponsors. “As an American, I cannot go to Arizona today without a passport. If I come across an officer who’s having a bad day and feels that the picture on my ID is not me, I can be … deported, no questions asked. That is not American.’’
Sr. Reyes - I suggest you take your passport with you when you go to beg the UN for bailouts for your innnnnternational city. I, for one, will be lobbying Sacramento to cut y’all off.

IDNTWMWYTIM: "Respect"
It’s like an income—you have to earn it.
About 200 Hispanic teens are marching in Morgan Hill yelling “We want respect!” and “Si se puede!" in reaction to a controversy ignited when the Live Oak High School principal effectively sent four students home for wearing T-shirts with American flags on them during Cinco de Mayo.
Mexican-American students felt the students were being disrespectful on the only day they celebrate their heritage...

...four female students [Vintage High School, Napa CA] were involved in a fight related to the burning of a [Mexican national] flag, according to Napa police.
...Thursday, school administrators found out the burned flag had been discarded on the school campus. They checked trash cans and found a partially burned Mexican national flag, police said.
Investigators believe two students burned it in protest for the celebration of Cinco De Mayo
