ooooooo loook; something shiiiiny *drool*

do they really expect us to fall for this crap?

What’s all this bru-ha-ha about an amendment against burning the American flag?!?

What does the American flag stand for?  A Republic based on the US Constitution.  What are the ideals and Values embodied in our Constitution?  That the individual has certain inalienable rights, among them the right to think for himself and to speak his mind.  Even if he does so poorly.  Even if what he says is against the very ideals and Values that enable him to freely say it, he has the right.  The act of burning the flag, by virtue of being the physical destruction of the symbol for an abstract, is an act of speech.

What is a guy who burns the flag?  A snail-skulled moron who is too ignorant or foolish to comprehend its meaning; too feeble-minded to grasp that he is burning the symbol that stands for the very right he is busy exercising.  What is a Constitutional amendment against burning the flag?  An oxymoron.

What is it in the current political climate?  A red herring. A shiny object meant to distract the simple by means of a purportedly black-and-white ‘question.’ A pretend litmus test for “patriots.” And an all-too-real witch-hunt for “non-patriots.” An irritating wast of time and attention.

  1. Do they really expect us to fall for this crap?

Why yes they expect the majority to and they will.

  2. It’s a perpetual distration.  Every few years this is discussed yes?  Well...they just put two kids (12 and 14) in jail in Turkey for burning Turkey’s flag...no one is allowed to fly any other flag (like a Kurdish flag) nor allowed to even speak Kurdish.  Two opposite ends of the extreme.

It’s just stupid to burn anyone’s flag..but if it were outlawed these are three things that my 15 and 13 year old family members came up with to be done in its place...America, the land of innovation one could say I think:

1 Burn a flag with the 50th star missing, it’s not “the flag” unless it has 50 stars.
    2. Burn a flag with the bars reversed (red will be where white is instead).

    3. Burn the constitution LOL!

Obviously, we are not short of “symbols” the question is how likely are we to have more desecration if there is a law, vs. letting people make fools out of themselves and losing support from the average American for whatever cause they happen to be peddling this month.

Distraction...pure and simple...now that eminent domain issue...that REALLY IS an issue.
